Nokia Continues to Dominate India, Samsung Making Strides |
|
India is shaping up to be one of the most important markets in the mobile phone industry and Samsung is making huge strides in the right direction. In fact, Samsung has just surpassed Motorola in India to take over the 3rd position. It's not first, but it's better than fourth!
According to the stats being released for Q1 2008, Nokia continues to be the biggest dog in the yard with a 70% market share. Second place goes to Sony Ericsson with is 8% market share, and then Samsung has usurped Motorola for third with 7%. The RAZR-maker dropped to fourth with around 6% market share. If Samsung has its way, the firm will double its market share in India by the end of the year. If this is the case, Samsung would quickly propel itself to second place.
In order to achieve this goal, Samsung plans on introducing "a slew of new devices" that will cater to all tiers and all segments of the market. It's a good time to be a cell phone user in India.
